Regional Trails

Marietta is located along the confluence of the Muskingum River and the Ohio River in Southeastern Ohio. There is a pathway along the riverfront that connects to paths for pedestrians alongside the Putnam Bridge, the Hamar Railroad Bridge and the bridge for Highway 60. The city is located across the river from Wiliamstown, West Virginia.

River Trail

The River Trail is a 3.5-mile long paved pathway along the Muskingum River and the Ohio River. The trail connects several parks and other points of interest.

The River Trail connects several parks and other points of interest, including:

  • Indian Acres Park
  • Sacra Via Park
  • Marietta Boat Club
  • Central Sacra Via Park
  • Putnam Bridge
  • Hamar Bridge
  • Ohio Riverfront Park

The northwest end of the River Trail is located at Indian Acres Park on Linwood Avenue, west of Muskingum Drive. The southeast end of the River Trail is located at E. 8th Street and Jefferson Street on the south side of Marietta.

North Bend Rail Trail

The North Bend Rail Trail is a 72-mile long mostly unpaved pathway located in the northwestern portion of West Virginia. The west end of the North Bend Rail Trail is 13 miles south of Marietta along Interstate 77.  The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and goes through very rural and beautiful West Virginia countryside. The trail passes a handful of small towns, goes through forested areas and alongside farmland.
