Regional Trails

The Rocky River Trail and the Mill Stream Run Trail form a trail system that extends for over 24 miles on the west and south side of the Cleveland urban area.

The two trails go through the following communities: Rocky River, Olmsted Township, North Olmsted, Lakewood, Fairview Park, Cleveland, Brook Park, Berea, Middleburg Heights, North Royalton and Strongsville.

Rocky River Trail

The Rocky River Trail is a 15-mile long paved pathway that travels through the Rocky River Reservation. The reservation is a beautiful natural greenbelt that follows the meandering river. Along with the main trail, there are other paved and unpaved trails in the reservation. There is also an unpaved pathway for horseback riding through much of the reservation.

For much of the route the paved Rocky River Trail follows alongside Valley Parkway. The trail goes past several athletic field areas, picnic areas and the Big Met Golf Course.
The trail also comes close to the recreational trail that loops around Cleveland Hopkins International Airport alongside Aerospace Parkway.

The south end of the Rocky River Trail is located at W. Bagley Road and Barrett Road. This location is the north end of the Mill Stream Run Trail.

Mill Stream Run Trail

The Mill Stream Run Trail is a 9-mile long paved pathway that travels through the Mill Stream Run Reservation. The paved trail follows Valley Parkway for much of the route. It goes past several park and picnic areas. The area is filled with thickly wooded sections and grassy meadows.

South of the Ohio Turnpike the Mill Stream Run Trail intersects the Big Creek Trail that heads off to the northeast. The trail also provides access to other hiking trails in the reservation. The trail goes past Bonnie Park, The Chalet, the Go Ape Zip Line and Treetop Adventure and Camp Cheerful.

The north end of the Mill Stream Run Trail is located at W. Bagley Road and Barrett Road. This location is the south end of the Rocky River Trail.

The south end of the Mill Stream Run Trail is located at West Edgerton Road and Valley Parkway. At this location the Mill Stream Run Trail connects to the trail that runs alongside Valley Parkway continues almost as far east as  Ridge Road.
