Regional Trails

Oswego is located in Kendall County in Northeastern Illinois. Other communities in this area include Boulder Hill, Bristol, Montgomery and Yorkville. This area is located to the south of the City of Aurora and to the west of the Chicago Metropolitan Area.

This area has numerous recreational trails for bike riding, running and walking that wander through the residential neighborhoods and parks. There are also regional recreational trails in the area that connect to other communities to the north and to the east.

Fox River Trail

The Fox River Trail is a system of paved trails that follows the Fox River as it meanders through Kane County and Kendall County in Northeastern Illinois. The trail system is located in the northwestern portion of the greater Chicago Metro area. The Fox River Trail connects numerous local parks, forest preserves and other attractions along the river. It also allows connections to many of the other recreational trails in the area.

The trail goes through the communities of Elgin, South Elgin, St. Charles, Batvia, Aurora and Oswego.

Virgil L. Gilman Trail

The Virgil L. Gilman Nature Trail and the V. L. Gilman Trail are paved pathways located in and around Aurora on the west side of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. The Virgil L. Gilman Nature Trail is managed by Kane County Forest Preserve District. The V. L. Gilman Trail is managed by the Fox Valley Park District. The southeast end of the trail system is located on the north side of Oswego.

The trails go past numerous forest preserves, across the Fox River and right by Blackberry Farm which is a living history museum where they have recreated pioneer life. The Virgil L Gilman trails also connect to a number of other recreational trails along their route.

Waubonsie Trail - Kendall County

The Waubonsie Trail is an approximately 3-mile long paved pathway that travels through the parks and residential neighborhoods located through Waubonsie Creek within Oswego. This area is located between Highway 30 and Highway 34 and east of the Fox River.

Blackberry Trail

The Blackberry Trail is an approximately 1.5 miles long paved pathway that is located to the south of Highway 30 and northeast of Orchard Road and Galena Road in the Montgomery area. The trail connects to the multi-use paths alongside Lakewood Creek Drive and S. Concord Drive.

Praire Point Trail

Prairie Point Park is located on Grove Road the south side of Oswego. The park has a system of paved pathways that connect to other recreational trails that follow alongside Grove Road and into the surrounding neighborhoods.
