Regional Trails

 The Lincoln Prairie Grass Trail is a 12-mile long mostly unpaved pathway that extends between Mattoon to Charleston which area bout 44 miles south of Champaign in Southern Illinois. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way. The trail goes across the farmland of the Southern Illinois countryside.

Conditions

The Lincoln Prairie Grass Trail is open for bike riding and walking. It has a surface of compacted crushed stone, with a paved section in Charleston to the east of N. E Street

The Lincoln Prairie Grass Trail goes past the following points of interest:

End Points

The west end of the Lincoln Prairie Grass Trail is located at Richmond Avenue and N. 10th Street in Mattoon.

The east end of the trail is located at N. County road 1800 E, 1/4 mile north of Route 316 to the east of Charleston.
