The MCT Confluence Trail is a 23-mile long paved pathway that is located in Madison County in Southwestern Illinois. The trail heads north from Granite City and follows the Chain of Rocks Canal and the eastern banks of the Mississippi River to the City of Alton. The features of the trail include beautiful views of the boats along the river, views of the Clark Bridge and a 900' long bridge for the trail to cross Wood River Creek.

Conditions

The MCT Confluence Trail is paved the entire route. The trail is open for non-motorized use such as bike riding, walking and running.

The north end of the MCT Confluence Trail meets up with the Great River Road Trail / Sam Vadabelene Trail that extends to Pere Marquette State Park.

The trail also parallels the MERPD Eagle Points Trail which is on the west side of the Chain of Rocks Canal.

The MCT Confluence Trail also allows connection to trails along the river in St. Louis, Missouri such as the St. Louis Riverfront Trail, by crossing the McKinley Bridge over the Mississippi River.

End Points

The south end of the MCT Confluence Trail is located at W. 1st Street, just south of W. 20th Street in Granite City.

The north end of the MCT Confluence Trail is located at Russell Commons Park near the Highway 67 bridge in Alton. This location is just south of Riverfront Park.
