The Foothills Trail is a 25-mile long paved pathway that is located to the east of the community of Puyallup in Pierce County and King County in Western Washington. The trail currently has three separate sections with short gaps in between. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and travels through the beautiful countryside of this area to the east of Tacoma in the State of Washington. The trail has portions that are thickly forested, it also goes past farmland, residential neighborhoods and rural communities.

Conditions

The Foothills Trail is 12' wide and paved with asphalt for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. There is a soft pathway alongside the paved trail for horseback riding. There is an elevation change along the trail of around 630' with the steeper sections near the approach to South Prairie.

Riverwalk Trail: The Riverwalk Trail follows the banks of the Puyallup River in the community of Puyallup and is located just north of the Foothills Trail.

Sumner Link Trail: this trail follows the banks of the White River in the community of Sumner. The Sumner Link Trail is located to the north of the western end of the Foothills Trail.

End Points

The Foothills Trail has three separate sections.

Western Section - 15.4 Miles

The western section of the trail starts at the intersection of Shaw Road and E. Pioneer to the southeast of Puyallup. The eastern end of this section is located at the intersection of Cross Creek Court and Pioneer Way E in South Prairie.

Middle Section - 1.4 Miles

The middle section of the trail starts at 132nd Avenue off of 262nd Avenue E in South Prairie. The eastern end of this section is located along 268th Actv E off of Pioneer Way in South Prairie.

Eastern Section - 2.3 Miles

The western end of the eastern section is located along Highway 175 at 0.5 miles northeast of 128th Street in Buckley. The northeastern end of the trail is just past N. River Avenue in Buckley. The trail stops at the Puyallup River.
