Regional Trails

Vail is located in Eagle County along Interstate 70 in the mountains of Colorado. Vail is a year round resort with skiing in Winter months and golfing, hiking and other sports in summer months. The resort town is situated on the west side of Vail Pass. The pass has an elevation of 10,622 and is the location of the Tenmile Canyon National Recreation Trail. The resort town itself has a system of paved walking and biking paths.

Other communities in this area include Eagle-Vail and Avon which are close to the Beaver Creek Ski area. The town of Minturn is located to the south along Highway 24.

This area also has numerous hiking trails and trails for mountain bike riding located within the White River National Forest.

ECO Trails & Eagle Valley Regional Trail

ECO Trails is a partnership within Eagle County which oversees the multi-use recreational trail system through the Eagle River Valley. This partnership includes the towns of Gypsum, Eagle, Avon, Vail, Red Cliff and Minturn. There are 63 miles of multi-use trails within the system. These trails are open for bike riding, walking and running and provide a way to commute between the various towns as well as a recreational opportunity. The system of trail is referred to as the Eagle Valley Regional Trail.

The Eagle Valley Regional Trails are situated alongside State Highway 6 for the most part and exist in several separate sections. Cyclists will be required to use State Highway 6 to connect to the various developed paved pathways.

Vail Pass / Tenmile Canyon National Recreation Trail

The Vail Pass / Tenmile Canyon National Recreation Trail is an 18-mile long paved pathway that spans between the resort of Vail and the resort of Copper Mountain in Central Colorado. The trail goes up and over Vail Pass with an elevation of 10,662 feet. The route starts to the east of Vail through and heads over Vail Pass going through evergreen forests and aspen groves, past mountain lakes and meadows and along side streams. The east end of the trail is the base of the Copper Mountain ski resort.
