The Yampa River Core Trail is a 5.7-mile long system of paved pathways located in Steamboat Springs in Northwestern Colorado. The trail follows along side Yampa River as it rushes through the natural areas and parks of Steamboat Springs. The route includes Howelsen Hill which is the location of the rodeo, athletic fields, alpine slide and the  way to reach the mountain bike trails at Emerald Mountain.

This is a lovely part of Colorado with the beautiful Yampa River Valley surrounded by the aspen and evergreen covered mountains. The Steamboat Springs Ski Resort offers year round activities. The Yampa River Core Trail travels adjacent to Historic Downtown Steamboat Springs, which has shops and restaurants and an authentic Old West atmosphere.

Conditions

The Yampa River Core Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. some parts of the trail can be flooded during periods of high water along the Yampa River, usually dring May and June.

End Points

The north end of the Yampa River Core Trail is located along Lincoln Avenue at Lagoon Court on the north side of Steamboat Springs.

The south end of the trail is located along Dougherty Road to the west of Lincoln Avenue on the south side of Steamboat Springs.
