The Big Dry Creek Trail is a 12-mile log paved path that extends from Standley Lake to Interstate 25 to the south of 136th Avenue in Westminster. On the east end, the trail connects to Lee Lateral Ditch Trail which travels for another 4.4 miles. The Big Dry Creek Trail follows the natural area alongside the Big Dry Creek as it wanders through the residential and commercial areas in the north part of the Denver Metro area.

The trail goes past local parks, including Westminster City Park, and other designated open space areas along the route. It also crosses several other recreational trails in the area.

Conditions

The Big Dry Creek Trail is paved for the entire route. There are underpasses for many of the major street crossings.

U.S. 36 Bikeway: west of W. 103rd Avenue and Church Ranch Road

Farmers Highline Canal Trail: the Farmers Highline Canal Trail can be reached from the Big Dry Creek Trail using the trails within Westminster City Park.

I-25 Trail: Interstate 25, 0.4 miles south of W. 136 Avenue.

Lee Lateral Ditch Trail: Interstate 25, 0.4 miles south of W. 136 Avenue.

End Points

The west end of the Big Dry Creek Trail is located  at the north side of Standley Lake North Open Space Park. There is a parking area at W 100th Avenue and Owens Street.

The east end of the trail is located at a point along Interstate 25, 0.4 miles south of W 136th Avenue. There is no trailhead at this location, but the trail can be reached from access trails off of W. 136th Avenue and from Huron Street. This is the point at which the Big Dry Creek Trail meets the I-25 Trail and the Lee Lateral Ditch Trail in Thornton.
