The Cannon Valley Trail is a 20-mile long paved pathway that spans between Cannon Falls and Red Wing in Southeastern Minnesota. This area is located about 40 miles from Downtown Minneapolis. The route of the trail follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way and goes through miles of natural areas along the Cannon River away from roadways. The route includes thickly wooded sections and wetlands, and also goes past local parks, residential neighborhoods and commercial areas.
Conditions
The Cannon Valley Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking.
Trail users age 18 or older must have a valid Wheel Pass when using the trail from April 1st – November 1st. The Great Minnesota Ski Pass is required to cross-country ski on the Cannon Valley Trail.

Hay Creek Trail & Goodhue Pioneer State Trail: the eastern end of the Cannon Valley Trail allows a connection to local recreational trails in Red Wing. These trails include the Hay Creek Trail that then connects to Goodhue Pioneer State Trail that heads south the community of Hay Creek.
End Points
The west end of the Cannon Valley Trail is located along Main Street W to the east of John Burch Park in Cannon Falls.
The east end of the trail is located off of US Highway 61 near Bench Street in Red Wing.
