The Arkansas River Path is a 12-mile long system of paved pathways that travel alongside the Arkansas River through the heart of in South Central Wichita. The route of the path spans from Big Arkansas River Park on W. 21st Street and adjacent to Interstate 235 to Southeast Boulevard and E. MacArthur Road. The trail travels through the natural areas and parks along the river, going past residential neighborhoods, commercial centers, schools and the area around Downtown Wichita.

The pathway is located on one side of the river or the other, and on both banks in some locations. There are several locations where trail users can cross to the other side.

Conditions

The Arkansas River Path is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking. Most of the route is located away from traffic and there are relatively few road crossings. There are several locations to cross the river, either on a pedestrian bridge or by using the pedestrian lanes on the various bridges for the roads.
