The Cumberland Valley Rail Trail is a 11-mile long paved pathway that spans between Shippensburg and Newville in South Central Pennsylvania. The trail crosses through the Pennsylvania farmland connecting the two communities along an abandoned railroad right-of-way.

Conditions

The Cumberland Valley Rail Trail is paved with asphalt and is open for bike riding, walking and running.

Points of Interest

The Cumberland Valley Rail Trail goes past the following points of interest:

  • Shippensburg University
  • Shippensburg Township Park
End Points

The west end of the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail is located at Fogelsanger Road near Shippensburg Township Park and adjacent to Shippensburg University in the community of Shippensburg.

The east end of the trail is located off of Railroad Avenue in Newville. There is a trailhead with parking along McFarland Street.
