Casper

The Wyoming Heritage Trail is a 22-mile long paved and unpaved pathway that spans between the communities of Riverton and Shoshoni in Fremont County in Central Wyoming. The trail follows the route of an abandoned railroad and crosses the braided Wind River.

The north end of the trail is located about 92 miles from Casper.

Conditions

The Wyoming Heritage Trail is paved for 3.6 miles within Riverton and a 0.9-mile stretch in Shoshoni is also paved. The remainder of the trail is unpaved in a natrual condition. The unpaved portions are very remote and suitable for mountain bikes and hiking, All terrain vehicles and snowmobiles are allowed on this trail. Be sure to come prepared with adequate supplies and water.

Check on the condition of the trail before attempting to ride it. There are sections that may be washed out by the river.

The trail is open for ATV use, so cyclists and hikers should remain cautious.

End Points

The southwest end of the Wyoming Heritage Trail is located at the south end of Rail Road Avenue in Riverton. The paved trail ends at Honor Farm Road.

The northeast end of the trail is located along E. 1st Street on the south side of Shoshoni.
