The South Gandy Dancer State Trail is a 48-mile long unpaved trail that extends from Danbury to St. Croix Falls in Northwestern Wisconsin. The trail goes through thick hardwood forests, pass many lakes and over wetlands. The route takes trail users past wide open agricultural areas and through multiple small communities.

The South Gandy Dancer State Trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and is located away from the roadways. The trail has gentle grades and few road crossings. There are several bridges along the way that cross the creeks and rivers.

Conditions

This portion of the South Gandy Dancer State Trail is open to hiking, bike riding and dog walking. The surface is that of crushed limestone. A Wisconsin State Trail Pass is required for cyclists over the age of 16. The trail connects in the north to a section in Minnesota where off road vehicles are allowed.

The north end of the South Gandy Dancer State Trail is located at the Minnesota/Wisconsin border with a bridge over the St. Croix River just north of Danbury.

The south end of the South Gandy Dancer State Trail is located just south of Highway 8 on Industrial Parkway in St. Croix Falls. In this location, there is an access path that leads over to the Polk County Information Center on St. Vincent Street.
