Fayetteville is located in Cumberland County along the Cape Fear River in the south central part of North Carolina. Fayetteville is home to the Fort Bragg Army Base.

Cape Fear River Trail

The Cape Fear River Trail is a 5.3-mile long 10-foot wide paved pathway that wanders through the natural areas adjacent to the Cape Fear River. The trail is paved, but it also has 1000 feet of boardwalk and a number of wooden bridges, including a covered bridge.

The trail includes interpretive signs that highlight the flora and fauna of this area. Wildlife can also be seen along the trail.

The north end of the Cape Fear River Trail is located at the Jordon Soccer Complex on Treetop Drive. There is a large parking area at this location. There is also parking located at the end of Sherman Drive. The south end of the trail is located in a wooded area near the railroad bridge over the river. This location is not accessible by car.

The Cape Fear River Trail is open for bike riding and pedestrians. Motorized vehicles are not allowed.

Mazarick Park Trail

There is a 1-mile long paved pathway within Mazarick Park near Filter Plant Drive and Highway 24. The park has athletic fields and tennis courts. The trail wanders through the woodlands adjacent to Little Cross Creek.
