The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail is a 6.8-mile long paved pathway that extends from Westford to Lowell in Northeastern Massachusetts. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and travels through the forestland adjacent to rural residential neighborhoods.

Conditions

The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail is paved the entire route and is open for non-motorized uses such as bike riding, running and walking. For the most part, the trail is located away from major roads and has relatively few road crossings.

The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail goes through the communities of Westford, Chelmsford and Lowell in Northeastern Massachusetts.

The southwest end of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail is located at the intersection of Westford Street and Main Street in Westford. There is no parking at this location.

The northeast end of the trail is located at the trailhead off of Chelmsford Street,to the north of State Highway 3 in Chelmsford. The trailhead is at the south corner of the parking lot for Crosspoint Towers
