Legacy Trail

Lexington is located along Interstate 74 and Interstate 64 in North Central Kentucky. The Appalachian Mountains are located to the south and east of this area of Kentucky. Lexington proclaims itself as the "Horse Capital of the World" and is surrounded by beautiful horse ranches and farmland.

Lexington has numerous parks with paved pathways for those seeking exercise away from roads and traffic. The north side of the city has a lengthy paved pathway named the Legacy Trail.

Legacy Trail

The Legacy Trail is an 10-mile long paved pathway located in the natural areas, parks and farmland alongside Cane Run creek. The trail goes past Berea Road Soccer Complex, The Council of State Governments and the North Lexington Family YMCA. The route of the trail spans to the north and south of Interstate 64 with the south end being just north of Downtown Lexington.

The north end of the Legacy Trail is located along Interstate 75, 1 mile north of the interchange with Iron Works Pike. The south end of the trail is location along W. Louden Avenue to the east of Newtown Pike.
