The Palatka to Lake Bulter State Trail is currently constructed in two separate portions with plans for a continuous 47 mile long paved trail located between the communities of Palatka and Lake Butler in the northern part of Florida.  The route of the trail is that of an abandoned railroad right-of-way and goes through a beautiful part of the state in Putnam, Clay, Bradford and Union Counties.

The constructed portions of the trail are paved and open for bike riding, running and walking. The north section has 4 miles of completed trail and the southern section has 20 miles of completed trail.

North Section

The north section of the completed portion of the Palatka to Lake Butler State Trail is a 4-mile long paved pathway starts in Lake Butler and heads south. the trail goes through the residential part of Lake Butler then past farmland and wooded areas in the countryside to the south.

The north end of the north section is located at SW 6th Avenue and W. Main Street. There is a trailhead with parking at this location.

The south end is located at SE County Road 237 and SE 75 Way.

South Section

The south section of the Palatka to Lake Butler State Trail is a 20 mile long paved pathway that stretches between Starke and a point along Highway 100 about 9 miles northwest of the center of Palatka. This portion roughly follows alongside Highway 100 and goes through the small communities of Keystone Heights, Lake Geneva, Putnam Hall, Grandin and Florahome. The trail is separated from the highway and has trees lining each side for much of the route.
