Sheridan is located in north-central Wyoming and about a 2 hour drive from Billings, Montana. Located in the heart of the Old West, just east of the Bighorn Mountains, 70 miles south of the Little Bighorn Battlefield and 4 hours from Yellowstone National Park, there are many sightseeing and recreational opportunities in the area. In the town there is the Sheridan Main Street Historic District and the Sheridan Railroad Historic District.

Sheridan has an extensive paved pathway system for getting about town on foot or by bike. This system of trails goes right through the center of town and out to the edges. It travels through several parks, right by a number of schools and has access trails to the local neighborhoods.
