The Cushman Trail is a 6.2 mile long paved path in two separate sections located in the Gig Harbor area to the north of Downtown Tacoma. The trail follows alongside Highway 16 from Borgan Boulevard to 14th Avenue NW to the south of 32nd Street Court NW. The route includes a number of parks and goes past residential and commercial areas. There is a short 0.7 mile gap in the trail along Kimball Drive.

Conditions

The Cushman Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking. The route is away from roadways and has long stretches through thick forests. The trail has relatively few road crossings. There are restrooms along the trail and 4 trailheads with parking. There are a couple of steep sections of the trail with slopes from 7% to 10%.

Scott Pierson Trail: the north end of the Scott Peirson Trail is 0.8 miles to the south of the south end of the Cushman Trail. Trail users can use 24th Street NW and 14th Avenue NW to connect between the two trails.

End Points

The north end of the Cushman Trail is located along Borgen Boulevard to the east of Canterwood Boulevard. There is a trailhead with parking at this location.

The south end of the trail is located off of 14th Avenue NW to the south of 32nd Street Court NW in Gig Harbor. There is a trailhead with parking at this location.
