The Burke-Gilman Trail is comprised of a 12.8-mile paved trail and a 4.5-mile long paved trail located to the north of Downtown Seattle.

The Burke-Gilman Trail has two separate sections. The western section is a 4.5-mile long pathway that follows alongside Seaview Avenue NW to NW Market Street adjacent to Shilshole Bay. The eastern section is 12.8-miles long and extends from 11th Avenue NW at NW 45th Street in Seattle to the City of Bothell near the University of Washington campus.

The trails offer beautiful views of the Downtown Seattle Skyline and the docks along the Lake Washington Channel. The trail goes through the campus of the University of Washington Seattle campus, past marinas, piers, shopping areas, restaurants and several local parks. The north end of the trail follows alongside Bothell Way NE and ends up at the south end of the campus of the University of Washington Bothell.

Conditions

The Burke-Gilman Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking. The two sections of the trail are separated by a 1.4-mile gap along Shilshole Avenue NW.

The west end of the 4.5-mile long western section of the trail is located at Golden Gardens Park along Puget Sound to the north of NW 80th Street in Seattle. The eastern end of this section is located along NW 54th Street to the east of 32nd Avenue NW.

The west end of the 12.8-mile long western section is located at 11th Avenue NW and NW 54th Street in Seattle. The eastern end of this section is located at 120nd Avenue NE and East Riverside Drive in Bothell.
