The Utah and Salt Lake Canal is a 27 mile long soft-surfaced trail that follows the canal that connects the two lakes as it crosses diagonally through the Salt Lake City metro area. The trail extends from Magna to Bluffdale. Along the way it goes through residential neighborhoods and passes by several parks and schools and goes near multiple commercial areas.
Conditions
The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. The trail is mostly unpaved, but has a wide smooth graded surface. There are numerous street crossings along the trail.

Nearby Trails
The Utah and Salt Lake Canal Trail connects to trails in the parks along the route. At the south end in Bluffdale, the trail meets up with three other regional recreational trails.
Jordan River Parkway Trail: The two trails join south of Parry Farms Baseball Park on W 15010 S in Bluffdale.
Lake Utah Distribution Canal Trail: This trail runs roughly parallel in the same area as the other two trails. The trails do not meet, but can easily be connected using the local streets or the trails at Jordon Narrows Park.
Mountain View Corridor Trail: This trail is in the area of Jordan Narrows Park and follows Porter Rockwell Boulevard.

End Points
The northwest end of the Utah and Salt Lake Canal Trail is located at S 9200 W Street in Magna.
