Regional Trails

The Catherine Valley Trail is a 11-mile long unpaved path that is located just south of Seneca Lake in Southwestern New York. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and follows alongside Catherine Creek as it goes through very rural New York countryside, with farms, lush forests and wetlands.

The trail extends from Watkins Glen to Pine Valley with a few short gaps. Thr trail roughly follows Route 14.

Conditions

The Catherine Valley Trail is open for non-motoized use such as bike riding, running and walking. The surface is that of compacted aggregate. There is a gap in the trail in Watkins Glen where trail users need to use S. Genesee Street to get to the next section at Cook Street.

The Catherine Valley Trail goes past the following communities: Watkins Glen, Montour Fall, Millport and Pine Valley.

End Points

The north end of the Catherine Valley Trail is located at 12th Street near Watkins Glen Central High School in Watkins Glen.

The south end of the Catherine Valley Trail is located at about 1mile south of Smith Road in Pine Valley.
