Dark Island Trail

The Dark Island Trail is a 8.4-mile long unpaved pathway that spans between Central City and Marquette. The trail follows the route of an abandoned railroad right-of-way and includes a long bridge that spans the Platte River. The trail crossed through Central City then across farmland and natural areas along the river. There are only a few road crossings.

The northern 3 miles trail has been improved with crushed / compacted stone within Central City and through the natural areas on the north and south bank of the river. To the south of E 27 Road the trail has a more natural surface suitable for mountain bikes and hiking.
