The city has an expansive system of paved trails that reaches to many parts of the city and also along the shores of the Missouri River.
Saint Joseph Riverwalk & The Parkway
The trail system is also referred to as The Parkway and consists of over 26 miles of paved pathways and wide sidewalks. The trail system goes by many of the city's schools and parks and extend out into the residential and commercial areas as well.
A 2.4-mile long stretch of The Parkway, also known as the Saint Joseph Riverwalk, follows the Missouri River from Heritage Park to Downtown St. Joseph. This section of the trail system travels well away from traffic and offers beautiful views of the river and goes by the St. Jo Frontier Casino
