Grindstone Creek Trail

The Hinkson Creek Trail is a 6-mile long paved path located on the south side of Columbia. The trail connects Grindstone Nature Area to the M-K-T Nature & Fitness Trail and the Grindstone Creek Trail near Chapel Hill Road. The trail also reaches as far north as Stephens Creek Park.


The Hinkson Creek Trail is paved. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking. For most of its route, the trail is located away from roadways and traffic. There is a short gap in the trail near Old Route K where trail users need to use the road to get to the next section of the trail. A 1.6-mile long section of the trail is located alongside Old US 63.

End Points

The west end of the Hinkson Creek Trail is located at a point along the M-K-T Nature & Fitness Trail, about 0.7 miles south of its crossing with Stadium Boulevard.

The northeast end of Hinkson Creek Trail is located at E. Walnut Street at the east end of Stephens Lake Park.
