Regional Trails

Maple Grove is located the the northwest of Minneapolis. The city has a large network of recreational trails for bike rides, walking, commuting, running and access for outdoor recreation such as boating and fishing. Many of these trails are part of Minnesota's Three Rivers Park District's Regional Trail system, others follow alongside major roadways, or around lakes and through local parks and there are also many neighborhood trails that wander through the residential areas. Most of the trails in this area are paved.

The regional trails that go through Maple Grove are the Rush Creek Regional Trail and the Medicine Lake Regional Trail.

Elm Creek Park Reserve Trails

Elm Creek Park Reserve is a 4,900 acre area located in the northern part of Maple Grove to the west of Zachary Lane N. and north of Highway 610. The park has over 12 miles of paved pathways and additional unpaved hiking and mountain biking trails for exploring the woodlands, lakes and wetlands in the reserve.

The Rush Creek Regional Trail and the Medicine Lake Regional Trail both connect to the trails in Elm Creek Park Reserve.

Medicine Lake Regional Trail

The Medicine Lake Regional Trail is a 15.6-mile long paved pathway that extends from Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove to the south end of Medicine Lake in Plymouth. The trail travels through natural areas adjacent to residential neighborhoods and commercial centers and connects with several other recreational trails along its route. There are a number of schools, local parks and lakes along the route of the trail as well.

Central Park of Maple Grove Trails

Central Park is located to the east of Weaver Lake Road. The park has paved pathways and a lake as well as other attractions. The trails in Central Park connect to other Maple Grove neighborhood trails that wrap around nearby lakes.

Gleason Fields Trails

Gleason Fields is an athletic complex located in the southwest corner of Maple Grove adjacent to Vagabond Lane. The park has baseball and soccer fields, but also has over a mile of paved walking paths that wrap around the park.

Fish Lake Regional Park

Fish Lake is located in the south central part of Maple Grove. There is a park at the south end with paved pathways. The pathways in the park connect to other Maple Grove neighborhood trails that head north to wrap around the east side of the lake

Rice Lake Trail

There is a 3.7-mile long paved pathway that wraps around Rice Lake which is located in the middle of Maple Grove. The trail around Rice Lake connects to the Medicine Lake Regional Trail which then tucks under Interstate 94.
