Regional Trails

Hastings is located along the Mississippi River in Dakota County and Washington County. This area lies to the southeast of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.

Hastings is located along the Mississippi River Trail and has numerous paved pathways that wander through the residential and commercial areas. There are also paved multi-use pathways along many of the major roadway in Hastings.

Mississippi River Trail & Mississippi River Regional Trail

The Mississippi River Trail system has a 10-mile long paved section that travels along the Mississippi River to the northwest side of Hastings. This section of the trail system starts at Spring Lake Park and meanders through the natural areas along the river. The trail passes through Spring Lake Park Reserve / Shaar's Bluff area. The trail then follows alongside Route 87, Lock Boulevard and Nininger Road. It connects to paved trails that cross the river over to Lake Rebecca Park and then down to Hastings Bridge.

The trail then connects to paved pathways that head south into Hastings alongside Bailey Street. This trail goes past Rivertown Dog Park and CP Adams Park eventually connecting to paved pathway in Vermillion River Linear Park.

Vermillion River Linear Park Trail

The Vermillion River Linear Park is located along the river to the south of Hastings. In the park there is a paved pathway that wanders through the natural areas along the river, tucks unde Vermillion Street, goes past Vermillion Falls, and connects to the pathways that lead to the Mississippi River Trail.

Point Douglas Regional Trail

The Point Douglas Regional Trail is a 4-mile long paved pathway that starts at Point Douglas Park which is situated on a peninsula between the St. Croix River and the Mississippi RiverThe trail then follows the Mississippi River for 2.4 miles. The trail has a pedestrian bridge that runs parallel to the Hasting Bridge to cross the Missisppi River into Hastings.  Once in Hastings, the Point Douglas Regional Trail takes a sharp jog to meet up with the Mississippi River Trail.

The Point Douglas Regional Trail provides a pedestrian and bike friendly connection between the cities of Hastings and Prescott, Wisconson.
