The Macomb Orchard Trail is a 23.5-mile long paved pathway that was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way through the rural areas on the north side of the Detroit urban area. The trail includes an expansive bridge for crossing over Highway 53 near the Ford Motor Company Romeo Engine Plant. Much of the Macomb Orchard Trail travels through open countryside, rural residential neighborhoods and farmland with few street crossings.

Conditions

The Macomb Orchard Trail is paved the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking.

Clinton River Trail: the southwest end of the Macomb Orchard Trail meets the east in of the Clinton River Trail at Dequindre Road to the south of 24 Mile Road in Shelby Charter Township. This location is just east of Bloomer Park.

Stoney Creek Metro Park Trail: at Shelby Road, the Macomb Orchard Trail passes within half a mile of the entrance to Stoney Creek Metro Park which has a 6-mile long loop trail that wraps around the park.

End Points

The southwest end of the Macomb Orchard Trail is located at Dequindre Road to the south of 24 Mile Road in Shelby Charter Township.

The northeast end of the trail is located at Main Street and Division Road in Richmond.
