Rockville is located in Montgomery County in Eastern Maryland. The city is near Bathesda on the outskirts of the Washington D.C. urban area.

Many of the major roadways within the Rockville area have a paved multi-use pathway that follows alongside the road.

Millennium Trail

The Millennium Trail is a 10.5-mile long paved pathway that circles around the Rockville area. The multi-use paved pathway travels alongside the following major roadways within Rockville: W. Gude Drive, Norbeck Road, 1st Street, Wootton Parkway and Darnestown Road.

Anacostia Tributary Trail System

The Anacostia Tributary Trail System consists of several paved and unpaved trails located in Prince George County, just east of the Rockville area. The trails span out from the border with Washington D.C. and have several branches that follow the waterways into several different communities. The trails go by the campus of the University of Maryland.

The trails in this system include: Anacostia River Trail, Indian Creek Trail, Northeast Branch Trail, Paint Branch Trail, Sligo Creek Trail and the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail. The trail system is also part of the American Discovery Trail and the East Coast Greenway.

Woottons Mill Park Trail

Woottons Mill Park is a large greenspace located just west of Interstate 270. The park is adjacent to residential neighborhoods and has paved walking paths that wander through forested areas.
