Twin Falls is located in Twin Falls County in south-central Idaho along the Snake River. The city sits on top of cliffs overlooking the Snake River Canyon with beautiful views of the river, the Perrine Bridge and the waterfall of Shoshone Falls. The Perinne Bridge is a steel cantilever brige that spans the canyon and was once the highest bridge in the workld. The Snake River and the surrounding area offer many outdoor recrational opportunities such as boating, rafting, hiking, cycling, fishing, skiing and camping. The mild climate affers over 200 clear days a year for enjoying the local sights.

Twin Falls itself is the largerst community in the area. The other nearby communities are Kimberly, Jerome, Filer Wendell and Buhl.

The area around Twin Falls is an area of historical significance as the oldest dated artifacts in North America were found in the nearby Wilson Butte Cave. The native tribes of the Shoshone and Bannock lived in this area. The area was transformed from a desert where only few crops could be grown to a rich agricultural valley due to the creation of dams along the Snake River and canals.

Twin Falls has a number of existing paved and unpaved recreational trails, also called bike paths, for shared use by pedestrian and cyclists. There are plans to expand this system of paths for better connectivity throughout the city.

Another section of this system is located along Perrine Coulee overlooking Canyon Springs Golf Course.
