Kauai is an island in the Hawaiian Islands that lies to the northwest of Oahu.

Kauai Multi-Use Path  / Ke Ala Hale Makalae Path

Kauai has an expanding paved bike path system named Kauai Multi-Use Path or Ke Ala Hale Makalae Path. Currently, the constructed portions of the path are located on the eastern side of the island near to Kapaa. The Kauai Multi-Use Path goes past the shops, schools, neighborhoods and past several beaches and along black lava cliffs. Plans are in the works for a 17-mile long system of bike paths located throughout Kauai.

The trail near Kapaa is 4-miles long and spans from Panihi Road to Donkey Beach. The trail follows the shoreline going past the center of the town of Kapaa, through Waipoli Park, Kapaa Elementary and Kapaa High School, Keālia Beach, the Pinapple Dump Overlook and Paliku Beach.

Another 2-miles of completed path of the  Kauai Multi-Use Path is located to the south of Kapaa near the community of Wailua. The trail spans from Wailua Golf Course to Papaloa Road.
