Macon is located along the Ocmulgee River in Bibb County in the middle of the State of Georgia.

Ocmulgee Heritage Trail

Macon has an expanding recreational trail system called the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. This system of pathways follows alongside the Ocmulgee River and will expand out to reach local parks and residential neighborhoods.

Currently the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail has 11 miles of paved and unpaved pathways in multiple separate sections. There are pathways in Anderson River Park located on the north side of the city. There are pathways along the Ocmulgee River, that include a crossing on the Otis Redding Memorial Bridge. Also located along the river, the paved pathways of the Georgia State Fairgrounds are included in the trail system as well as the pathways in Central City Park, Riverside Cemetery and the Ocmulgee National Monument.
