The Skunk Creek Trail is a paved and unpaved system of trails located in Glendale and Peoria in the northwest portion of the Phoenix Metropolitan area. The trail system spans for about 5.5 miles along Skunk Creek and connects to the Arizona Canal Trail and the New River Trail. The trail goes past a number of local parks.


The Skunk Creek Trail has paved and unpaved pathways. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking. There are relatively few road crossings and underpasses for the major roadways.


The Skunk Creek Trail travels through Peoria and Glendale on the northwest side of the Phoenix Metropolitan area.

Nearby Trails

New River Trail: the two trails meet at Rio Vista Community Park in Peoria. The park is located west of the Agua Fria Freeway and north of W. Thunderbird Road.

Arizona Canal Trail: the two trails meet at N. 75th Avenue to the south of W. Paradise Lane in Peoria.

End Points

The southwest end of the trail is located at its junction with the New River Trail at Rio Vista Community Park. The park is located just west of Highway 101 and north of W. Thunderbird Road. The Skunk Creek Trail heads off to the northeast from the park. There are also access paths to the Skunk Creek Trail at N 83rd Avenue.

The northeast end of the Skunk Creek Trail is located at N. 51st Avenue, a half of a mile south of the intersection with Highway 101.
