Auburn is a city located along Interstate 95 in eastern Alabama. It is approximately 53 miles northeast of Montgomery.

Auburn is the home of Auburn University. Other communities in this area include Opelika, Beauregard, The Bottle and Lochapaka.

Auburn has several recreational trails that are located alongside major roadways and in local parks.

Chattahoochee Valley Railroad Trail

The Chattahoochee Valley Railroad Trail is located a little over 21 miles to the northeast of Auburn in the City of Valley. This area is situated along the Chattahoochee River and is an area of several historic cotton mill towns.

The Chattahoochee Valley Railroad Trail is a 7-mile long paved pathway that follows the route of an abandoned railroad right-of-way on the south side of the City of Valley in eastern Alabama. This area is situated along the Chattahoochee River.

The railroad carried passengers and cotton to the textile mills that were located in the area. This paved trail ties together the mill villages of Shawmut, Langdale, Fairfax and River View, that are now all now incorporated into the City of Valley. Its route includes 18 historic landmarks, including a pretty covered bridge and travels through lovely rural residential neighborhoods situated along the Chatahoochee River.
